A Conversation with Erik Bruno,
Author of "My Memory of Dying: Yes, This is a True Story"
Why did you feel you had to tell this story?
I felt it was time to let ‘everyone’ know, whomever was interested in knowing actually, what it was like for one person, me, to die.
I have had this memory for almost 40 years now. As a very young child I was confused by it. As an older child, I began wondering if it was a premonition. But it seemed so real-so how could it be a premonition? I thought to myself. After learning more over the past 20+ years about OBE’s and NDE’s and astral projection, I now believe that the intensity of my recollection of this memory, can be nothing more than an actual memory of something that occurred before I came to be my present self.
Where do you get your ideas?
I normally get my ideas in the middle of the night-in a half awake state of slumber. Ideas come into my mind in voices, words and images. I am then prompted to get up, and write them down, lest I forget by morning.
Do you ever experience writer’s block and how do you overcome it?
I do not. Ideas spring forth every day. I believe that writers block stems from not knowing where to start. In reality, one should merely put pen or pencil to paper and start ‘anywhere’.
The brain will take over and begin assisting what one writes. Later, organizing those words can be done with more focus and time.
What advice would you give to aspiring writers on the writing and publishing process?
Don’t believe in writer’s block. Just do it. Just start. Start somewhere. If you have a message that can help at least one person on this planet, you owe it to that person to start. Then, for yourself, finish it. :-)
How do you market your work? Have you found some avenues to be more successful than others?
My publisher is an amazing video designer and producer. She is also a marketing wizard who has a large network-of designers, producers and marketers.
If your book was made into a movie, who do you picture playing each part?
Given the length of this particular book, it would be a short movie. But I would want it to impact deeply nonetheless, everyone that it is supposed to affect.
So for this book, I’d want someone who could convey very well, with extremely expressive eyes especially, my emotions when I myself recollect this memory.
Elijah Wood, would be my first pick.
Joaquin Phoenix would be my second pick.

Synopsis
ILLUSTRATED FOR ALL AGES
This book is meant to describe, in an easy to understand way, what happened to me, after I died. I don't know who I was, where it occurred, whether I was a man or woman, boy or girl; only that it did indeed occur.
I have had this memory for almost 40 years now. I used to believe that this was a premonition. I was a very young child, when I began recollecting this, and so I could not explain it to myself any other way.
I finally chose to tell my children, a few years ago, about this. I was afraid of what they might think of me.
But I felt it was important enough to take that chance, and let them know.
I feel that I am ready to express this occurrence, in an illustrated fashion, to those who may be curious about it.
