Why did you feel you had to tell this story?
For me, it’s almost like I don’t have a choice. The characters and the story and situations stay in my head until I get them out on the paper. For this story, I wanted to tell a superhero story that was not a superhero story. It has characters with abilities, but none of them are “heroes”. They are eight guys, who besides being born in the same year, and having nightmares about roughly the same thing, are all complete opposite. This is not a run to save the day kind of story. It is really like Seven Samurai, plus one, and in modern day Las Vegas.. And that’s something I had never really seen or read before…at least not in a setting like this.

Where do you get your ideas?
Music seems to be the biggest influence to me. The right lyric, rhythm or beat stirs my imagination. That with photographs, a line from a newspaper, or something from the headlines, and the story starts to come.

Do you ever experience writer’s block and how do you overcome it?
The worst form of writers block I have is that I cannot move to the next story I have thought of because I have to finish the one I am currently on. Staying with one idea all the way to the end is a little harder than it would seem. At least to me.

What advice would you give to aspiring writers on the writing and publishing process?
This is a wonderful time. Those ideas of yours can be literally shared with the world. First, you just have to write it. Nobody will read your story unless you write it. Write. Write. Write.

How do you market your work? Have you found some avenues to be more successful than others?
This is my first self published story, so its all experimental. My degree is in film, so the next step is to make a book trailer or short of it.

If your book was made into a movie, who do you picture playing each part?
This story was originally a screenplay, and really reads like a script in some ways, so I’d be lying if I hadn’t thought about some people to play in this. All the characters are around 25-26. Adam Levine of Maroon 5, now being an actor, could really do the main character justice. Armie Hammer, Steven R. McQueen, Ryan Reynolds (though he is older). Donald Glover or Bow Wow. Rapper Wiz Khalifia could definitely do something with it as well.
