Why did you feel you had to tell this story?
The Deadly News resulted because my first novel, The Rev of Bouvier, which created so much positive feedback. Due to this, I wanted to provide my readers a second book with the fictional town of Bouvier, Missouri as the setting. Some of the characters from the first book come back in The Deadly News. But the primary characters in The Deadly News are fresh and new. I hope my readers will enjoy the mix of the new and previous characters.
Where do you get your ideas?
That is the most enjoyable part of writing. The characters many times come to life simply as I’m writing on my laptop. Some ideas are the result of various experiences in my life, but the vast majority comes to mind as I write.
Do you ever experience writer’s block and how do you overcome it?
I have encountered times at the first stages of a book where the ideas are not flowing as I would wish. But I have found the key to overcome this is to simply write every day. Even if it is just a small amount, writing every day will get the ideas flowing.
What advice would you give to aspiring writers on the writing and publishing process?
First is would advice is to not give up on your dream. If you enjoy writing, keep doing it. Second, is to be patient and persistent. Getting your work published is tough. But don’t give up.
How do you market your work? Have you found some avenues to be more successful than others?
As a new writing I think you have to try lots of different things in order for your work to be recognized. Start locally where you can build a following.
If your book was made into a movie, who do you picture playing each part?
Matthew McConaughey would make a great Mitch McMasters. Kirsten Dunst would be an excellent Clare McMasters. Paul Giamatti would be dead on as the prosecutor, Ernie Lambert. Gailard Sartain would be spot on as Sheriff Buford Blakeley.

Synopsis
The dream life soon becomes a living nightmare when authorities in Bouvier begin to investigate a tragic car wreck, which took the life of Haley Fulz. At the time of her death Haley Fulz was seventeen-years-old, the longtime girlfriend of McMasters' son, and mysteriously pregnant.
The Deadly News takes you through McMasters whirlwind journey from a life filled with arrogance and excessive pride to one paralyzed by a state of scared desperation. It also demonstrates how an investigation of a basic car wreck inexplicably ventures into areas law authorities never dreamed existed and ends with a shocking result in their journey for the truth."
