"Sales Success Now: In-depth Sales Techniques"

Why did you write “Sales Success Now”?
There is no such thing as a “slam dunk” in the world of sales. After having spent over 15 years achieving exceptional outcomes for three top sales organizations I wanted to find out out how other highly successful sales leaders achieved their own success. In addition, I wanted to give back for my good success while validating my own beliefs and techniques about selling.

From a pool of 75 great and successful sales leaders I conducted in-depth interviews and selected 15 international and nationally known authors across a wide range of disciplines and in “Sales Success Now” I share their experience with you.

Profits generated from the sale of this book are being generously shared with Doctors Without Borders, a 501C3 worldwide organization whose mission it is to deliver healthcare anywhere in the world based on need.

How did you get the idea to write a book comprised of interviews of the sales masters?
Over my sales career I developed some strong ideas about what sells and what doesn't. I realized that just a small percentage of sales people were truly top sales producers. I found many parallels to management in general. Only a few rise to the top, the middle contains a large distribution and a few are never successful. So the need to validate my own ideas and beliefs by other highly successful sales people was my underlying motivation. And validate they did in spades!

Did you experience writer's block and how did you overcome those blocks?
My greatest problems were not writer's block but rather three other equally difficult barriers. First, I had too much information to work with! I never realized how much 75 sales experts liked to talk! Wow. Recording, editing, writing, following up along with all the other steps in publishing took much more time than I had planned on to devoting to this stage of the project.

Second, it took some trail and error to locate the technical talent I needed to pull this scope of project off. My advice would be to hire the best talent you can afford to begin with. Those extra dollars paid up front is more cost effective in the total scope of the project. Third, the reimbursement for book publishing has been turned upside down by recent market forces making it very difficult for new authors to gain traction from book sales alone. We truly have entered into using a diverse approach. This requires time and talent to lead the charge.

What advice would you give to aspiring writers?
I tell folks who want to write to go ahead with realism, a good marketing strategy, a validated process and whatever you do, don't quit your day job unless you have lots of cash reserves!

What sales superstars provided secrets to selling that you may not have considered before?
I think that there were a couple of outstanding “secrets” that I gleaned from my superstars. First, I am very pleased to report that everyone of my panel shared their passion about what they were doing and what they hoped to achieve. Each believed in themselves and the goals they set for themselves to achieve were strongly held. They had a clear vision for what they wanted to achieve: And what steps would get them there.

Second, all panel members were more than willing to give of themselves for the greater good of humanity as evidenced by their commitment to Doctors Without Borders. True success is achieved through team work.

Last but not least, I felt a genuine commitment to making this project a success which I am both humbled by and grateful for.
