A Conversation With Sheron Archibald,
"The Whimzy and Whammy of Chase and Chance - Double Trouble"

Why do you feel you had to write this book "The Whimzy and Whammy of Chase and Chance”?
Chase and Chance are my 3 year twin grandsons who I spent a lot of time with from the day they were born. They were born almost 3 months premature and had to stay in the hospital for over 2 months. The idea to write this book (series) evolved within me as I watch them grow and go through changes over the years. In this busy days that we are living in, as parents, we never seem to have the time to spend with our own children (we are too busy working), but when it comes around to grandchildren, we find the time to sit around and play with them. I am a young grandmother (especially in looks, people think they are my children) but I take great pleasure in hanging out with them, hence the reason I am able to capture the whimsical things that they do, and also why I choose to record them in books.

From where do you get your ideas?
From watching and observing them

Do you ever experience writers block and how do you overcome it?
Yes I do, occasionally I am on the computer writing and would suddenly draw a blank. I would stop and relax by watching TV or read a book, or do anything that takes me away from the idea I am working on. I will wait until the idea start flowing again- sometimes it takes a day or two, but I would wait until the idea start flowing again before going back to my writing.

What advice would you give to aspiring writers?
I would tell them to get into the habit of writing things down, and if necessary get into the habit of carrying pen and paper because ideas come to you at the strangest times. Sometimes, I might be taking a walk when an idea comes to me, and I always make a note of it, because by the time you get back home, you don't remember it and even if you do it may not be in the same vein of thought. Also, I would tell them not lose hope, you are usually close to your goal when you are about to give up.

How do you market your work? Are some avenues more successful than others?
Well , with my first book, I made the mistake of publishing on Amazon Kindle Select which really restricted me in many ways. I sent over 3 million targeted traffic to the book, only to find out that Amazon was restricting some counties from buying the book. So I would advise that if you are selling on Amazon, not to do the Kindle Select. I would say the best way to market is to be aligned with people and groups who are best suited to your genre of writing- if you are writing for children, target people with children. Then make very good use of social media marketing- facebook, linkedin, twitter, google, pinterest etc.

If your book was made into a movie, who would play each role?
Quite frankly, I think they would play themselves best. Also if there is any celebrity with 3-4 year old twins, they would qualify. I was trying to think of some and drew a blank.
