From Canada with Love?
Janice Carlson and Steven Sorenson seem perfect for each other – aside from living in different countries and still being in love with their former spouses who desperately want them back.
In the U,S., Steven Sorenson is struggling to recover from his ex-wife's affair. A conservative investment counselor by day, by night Steven combs through online dating sites searching for Ms. Right. His dates have included women who claimed to be slim while being obese, single while being married, and against drug-use but showing up drunk.
In Manitoba, Canada, Janice Carlson recently discovered that her husband was having an affair with a co-worker. Her husband, Jordan, informs her that he doesn't feel a strong connection any longer and wants "the chance to be with someone who makes me happy." He proceeds to force Janice to sell her beloved house and move to an apartment where her neighbors include two men and one woman who perform orgiastic sex and play "ghoul metal" 24/7.
On one of his online dating searches, Steven encounters Jan's profile, "Sweet Syntax," and is instantly intrigued: "I have a master's degree in English!" she warns. He writes her, she writes back – and thus begins a correspondence which soon has Steven convinced that he's found the woman of his dreams.
When Steven and Janice finally meet, their sexual fireworks and emotional connection exceed their highest expectations. To Steven, Janice is funny, bright, and quirky, and the only woman who's ever called him a "stud." For Janice, Steven is the strong, kind, and sane man that her husband, Jordan, never was.
Jordan's love affair, however, has crashed and burned. Now he has decided that Janis is his "one and only true love," and he wants her back. The owner of four degrees and a 157 I.Q., Jordan turns his brilliant, devious mind to destroying Janice and Steven's blossoming love.
Meanwhile, back in the States, Steven's wife, Zelena, has ex-lover issues of her own. Her passionate affair has flamed out, and her former love has turned obsessive stalker. A cry for help brings Steven firmly back into Zel's orbit, and she aims to keep him there.
With Zel and Jordan working overtime to win back their former mates, and Jan's manipulative best friend, Corryn, plotting to ruin both relationships and keep Jan all to herself, an incident at the border jeopardizes Steven's future passage into Canada.
Battling former lovers, immigration authorities, the police, back-stabbing friends - and their own consciences - Janice and Steven form a pact to make their new love triumph, no matter what the cost.
