Why did you feel you had to tell this story.
I have always been intrigued with the concept of parallel worlds and eventually the character came to me inspired by the children in my life. I see a lot of younger children struggling with self esteem issues and I felt that this series address those issues that adolescents struggle with.
Where do you get your ideas?
Where don't I get my ideas is a better question. I have a generally idea of what I want out of a story and then the characters fill out the rest taking bits and pieces from everyday life and sometimes making crazy stuff up.
Do you ever experience writer's block and how do you overcome it?
I definitely have experienced writer's block more often that I would like. There are times when I step away from my main project to either distract myself with music, a movie, a good book or anything to clear my head for a while. Other times I will write gibberish just to keep the writing flow going.
What advice would you give to aspiring writers on the writing and publishing process?
I would tell aspiring writers to research before anything and be comfortable with the decisions you make. And of course make sure you have a quality product, one you can be proud of.
How do you market your work?
Have you found some avenues to be more successful that others?
I do a lot of social networking. However, I find nothing works better than good old word of mouth, so I focus on book clubs and niche blogs and websites.
