Kindle Spotlight: The Throne of Olympus, by A.M. Day

The Throne of Olympus
by A.M. Day
Synopsis:
What if helping a stranger throws you into the lives of two ominous families claiming to be the descendants of Greek gods? What would you do? Love, honor and betrayal exists in every family, in every realm...

In the twenty-first century, mythical presence is preserved in storybooks. It is a time where heroic tales of the gods leap from the pages into the imagination, for most.

One night, in an instant, the life of twenty-two-year-old Lena Wilcox is forever changed after helping a stranger. She finds herself caught in between the feud of two mortal families with a blood bond to the Greek gods—the Andros family and the Anastogus family. Both claim superiority, both vie for the Throne of Olympus, but only one side is accepted…the Unworthy are not.

The God of Gods banished Zeus and the other Olympus gods long ago choosing descendants to rule on the throne in their place. This was meant to right the wrongs carried out against the first demigod Argus and the other hybrid offspring of the gods. The destiny of the throne has yet to be fulfilled.

Lena will have to make the difficult choice to follow the path of her destiny as the new rising goddess, along with a new descendant king on Mt. Olympus leaving her earthly life behind. Together, they will become a modern-day Zeus and Hera to protect Olympus and the throne, and to keep the Unworthy from raising the demigod Argus in their ongoing plight for revenge.

Before any of this can happen, Lena must first sort through her feelings about the reality she knows to be true. The reality brought forth by those claiming to be descendants of the Greek gods, staking a claim to their right for the Throne of Olympus.

Author Interview with A.M. Day: The Throne of Olympus

A conversation with A.M. Day, author of The Throne of Olympus

Why did you feel you had to tell this story?
The Throne of Olympus wasn't the story that I intended to write first. I had so many stories and had picked the first story I would do years ago--it wasn't even a fantasy. But TOO came pouring out so fast that I had started working on books two and three...all while I was still doing the first one. Passion wins out every time.

Where do you get your ideas?
The ideas came from old Greek myth and playing around with the stories of the Greek gods. I wanted to intertwine their stories with the "what if this happened, instead of this?" scenario.

I wanted to know what happened to Zeus and the other Greek gods. I wanted to know what the story was behind Zeus' first born with a mortal woman, so I made up what I thought could have happened. It just took off from there.

Do you ever experience writer’s block and how do you overcome it?
Not a lot, but I'll usually put on a movie with the same genre as what I'm writing to help loosen the kinks or a nice river walk sometimes helps. There are times where I have to block my writing, though.

Ideas or more dialogue will hit me at an inopportune moment...there would be no control once I start and stopping anytime soon isn't an option. Nothing gets written for a day or two to give that overactive imagination a chance to calm down and let me drive again.

What advice would you give to aspiring writers on the writing and publishing process?
My advice would be as always, go with your gut, have fun with it and don't over think it. Create an outline for what needs to be done to refer back to. And lists...lists are very important as a guide. Lastly, lost of deep breaths and be patient.

How do you market your work? Have you found some avenues to be more successful than others?
Still working out the marketing kinks. I have Throne of Olympus (TOO) on Amazon for Kindle and in paperback. One of the things I've found to be a little more successful is a few tweets about the book and usually a little while later there's a slight upward surge in sales.

If your book was made into a movie, who do you picture playing each part?

One of the Unworthy families:
Demetrius Anastogus--David Boreanaz
Kaleb Anastogus--Nicholas Hoult
Demetri Anastogus--Tyler Hoechlin
Nicolos Anastogus--Dylan O'Brien
Alexa Anastogus--I would want a teen newcomer for this part.
Temptress Allura--Kat Graham
Directorate member Nebe--Cindy Sampson
