Aba and Shamana: The Story of a Legend Begins, by Cynthia L. Floriani

Aba and Shamana
The story is set two thousand years ago in Bethel, a fictitious Middle Eastern village. The tale begins with the arrival of a mysterious stranger to a goat herder’s campsite, who captivates a little girl, Alimud with a story about a giant donkey, Aba and of Shamana, the young girl who raises him.

Aba grows, surprising everyone, into a mammoth donkey whose height exceeds two meters. He is instilled with supernatural strength and intuitive abilities. Shamana too has the gift of a visionary, which through her vivid dreams, is able to interpret the fates and destinies of others.

The advent of a third party tests their friendship and unintentionally becomes the catalyst that tests their unique bond.

Aba experiences great despair at his failure to protect the one he loves, which has tragic consequences. Homeless, he wanders the wilderness alone. Aba must find Shamana for only she can heal him.

While wondering the wilderness, it is through Aba’s strong love for his beloved mistress, Shamana that he is able to endure all that he comes to face, to finally find his way back to his original home.

Shamana’s unstinting devotion to Aba is the powerful antidote which would eventually set him free from his despair.

At last, the tale once again returns to the young Alimud who on receiving a gift from the nomad before he vanishes from the campsite, realises upon opening his gift the true meaning of the nomad’s tale about the golden hearted, gentle giant donkey, Aba.

I am a mother of four grown children and grandmother to two beautiful babies. I have a strong desire to be of service to persons less fortunate than myself. In this spirit, I created Survival Backpacks for homeless persons which were distributed by Red Cross Australia's arm in West Australia. The Ebook Aba and Shamana was born to draw attention to the plight of the donkey and its treatment in some areas of the world. I wanted to draw awareness to their mistreatment and do what I can to contribute. Aba the giant donkey was created in the image of a hero and a champion of donkeys in the hope that he would not only entertain young readers and those young at heart but also encourage an interest in the readers to seek out information about them. Three charities are supported in the book, Australia Red Cross, The Donkey Sanctuary, WSPA.

The Ebook featuring Aba the giant donkey, is the first of a series and it will soon be available in paperback, including audio. A specially created tune for Aba and Shamana is currently under creation and will soon feature on my amazon author page and my own website.

For the Love of Dog Tales, by Irvin Cannon

For the Love of Dog Tales
"Life Stories" through the experiences of our closest companion.

Cannon introduces his first collection of “life stories” as told through the experiences of our canine friends. This volume, of five intriguing dog tales, takes you on an emotional joyride you’ll forever hold truly close to your heart. These stories captivate and expose the contradictions in the lives of our canine companions in their “man eat dog world”.

See through the battle-weary eyes of a pit bull that must fight the ultimate battle outside the arena for his very existence. Rally with two courageous police dogs, risking their lives following the sordid trail of a savage serial killer. Race alongside the thundering paws of a challenged greyhound, where losing a race means losing one’s life. Share the pitiful incarceration and uncertainty of a laboratory dog as he copes with his rapidly diminishing time on this Earth. Chum along on the mean city streets with a hapless canine hobo, as he wanders into the lives of families and stumbles upon adventure after adventure, to learn tragically the painful lessons of love and its ultimate sacrifice.

Book Video Trailer

About the Author
Irvin Cannon
Storyteller and dreamer, Irvin L. Cannon, put pen to paper for the first time in response to a challenge. A simple challenge issued in response to his comment... "I can write a better story than that." The challenge uttered, "Do it then"! He began scribbling story after story into notebooks. For the Love of Dog Tales is the first release from those tucked away pages birthed from that short exchange.

His vision and imagination for the art of storytelling was primarily nurtured by his love for comic books. A scientist by training, dog lover by nature, and a man with many years in law enforcement, Irvin's experience in the inner city street wars, combine to produce a biting view of the world around us as seen through the eyes of his canine characters--characters with whom he has crossed paths.

Bumble the Bee, by Yvon Douran

This childrens picture book is for children ages 4 through 8.

When is a bee not a bee? Can a bumble bee change himself into a bird or a ladybug? If a bumble bee had feathers like a bird could he still gather pollen all day or would the feathers get in his way? Bumble is about to discover the answers to these questions and learn some bee-wildering lessons along the way.

As a children's book author most of my themes are centered around nature and the natural world. So many things in nature run parallel with our own human experiences. Learning about nature can help young children learn about themselves and their place in the world around them. ~Yvon Douran

About the Author
Yvon Douran, childrens book author is a true adventurer, and with good reason: Her infamous ancestor, Fletcher Christian, led the mutiny on the Bounty in 1789. Not surprisingly, then, in 1985 Ms. Douran made a bold decision to leave her idyllic life on a tiny South Pacific island and travel 13,000 miles to study photography at the famed Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California.

Horse Riding Choose Your Weapons, by Avis Senior

Let Battle Commence

Ok, the gloves are off!

The gentle persuasion ends here. The author lays the copious variations of abuse of horses (deliberate or otherwise) on the table. It is time for the long awaited wake up call to the dramatic physical and emotional trauma dumped on the horse daily by our inconsiderate ways.

The tables are turning; the author intends to do everything in her power to help them along. The choice is yours; follow the author eagerly and with an open mind as you journey together along the path of enlightenment, or remain stagnant in the clutches of archaic systematic training systems that continue to brainwash equestrians at the expense of the wellbeing, and true potential, of both you and your horse as you face each other on the battle field each day.

As soon as you are humble enough to question, you will begin to see a world full of possibilities, not limitations.

About the Author
From her beginnings of riding ponies truly free as a child, pony and rider feeling and knowing what the other was asking – the author is a British horse Society qualified riding coach with many years in the equestrian industry. Author Interview with Leeza Robertson: Animal Totems & How To Use Them For Everyday Life

A Conversation with Leeza Robertson,

Author of "Animal Totems &
How To Use Them For Everyday Life"

Featured Author, Leeza Robertson
Animal Totems & How to Use Them For Everyday Life

Why did you feel you had to write this book?
After doing classes and workshops on power animals and animal totems, it just seemed like the next logic step to put all of that information into one reference guide.

Where do you get your ideas?
I remember being introduced to my very fist deck of animal medicine cards in 2006. From that moment on I knew this was a form of work I would end up doing. I read all I could get my hands on. I have all of Ted Andrews books and have even attended some of Dr Steven Farmers classes. But it was during my own work with animal guides that I got all of my ideas. It was through meditation and channeled dialogue that we came together to open the way for others to learn this form of divination.

Do you ever experience writer’s block and how do you overcome it?
For me writers block is nothing more then the space between moments of inspiration. I know when it is time the information will come. So I never force it. I find it so much easier to just 'expect' the information to show up when its ready and when it is not ready I find something else to do so I do block the flashes of divine dialogue when it does show up.

What advice would you give to aspiring writers on the writing and publishing process?
Hire a book coach! Save yourself time, money and a lot of stress and hire a book coach. When I am not writing on my own creative projects I am coaching others to attain their publishing dreams. This year one of my students made it onto the best sellers list within 7 days of her book going live on amazon. That sort of success is not created in a vacuum, hire a coach.

How do you market your work? Have you found some avenues to be more successful than others?
I have spent years creating a list of raving fans of my work. This database is always waiting to see what I have in the works. I do this by doing live classes, workshops and events. Through social media, email campaigns to my already hungry data base, radio interviews and teleseminars.

Author Interview with Mildred Potash: Millie and Cupcake

A Conversation with Mildred Potash,
Author of "Millie and Cupcake"

Featured Author, Mildred Potash
"Millie and Cupcake"

Why did you feel you had to tell this story?
I feel this story needed to be told because rats are the most misunderstood animals. They are clean, intelligent, loving, and they make great companions. Their bad reputation is completely undeserved. I love rats and all animals and I think people should not judge them so quickly. I also believe my story brings a good message to kids about taking care of a pet.

Where do you get your ideas?
Honestly, my rats inspired me to write my book. I got the idea from my own experiences with my pet rats. I also had a dream with part of my story in it and that’s when I woke up and wrote it all down.

Do you ever experience writer’s block and how do you overcome it?
No, I only had trouble organizing my ideas. I knew the plot of my story; I just did not know how to place everything. I would sit in a quiet room and organize and put my story together.

What advice would you give to aspiring writers on the writing and publishing process?
If you love writing, pursue it. Even if your book is not a success, don’t give up. I did not write my book for the money or fame even though it would be nice to become known one day.

How do you market your work? Have you found some avenues to be more successful than others?
The Internet is a great marketing tool to reach thousands of people from all over the world. I use social networks like: Facebook, Twitter, Tumbler, Instagram, and Flickr. I have over 100 thousand likes on my Facebook fan page. I think all of these social networks are good to get exposure for books. However, I do prefer Facebook because I know a lot of people that own rats and have kids. There is more talk about my book on Facebook.

If your book was made into a movie, who do you picture playing each part?
That is my next dream; I would love to turn my book into a cartoon series for kids ages 2-8 years old. I would choose unknown actors to portray my characters. I feel like the story will be fresh and the actors will not be distracting.

********************

Synopsis

For many children, the experience of bonding with and loving a first pet is an unforgettable time in their lives.

********************

About the Author:
Mildred Potash was born in Brooklyn, New York. She has always been an animal lover. Her very first pets were two rats, and during her life she has enjoyed the companionship of hamsters, guinea pigs, two ferrets, a cat, and two dogs. Mildred is an outspoken advocate for animal rights, and her appreciation of the warmth and intelligence of rats inspired her to write this book.

Author Interview with Geraldine Litz: The Foxes' New Family

A Conversation with Geraldine Litz: Author of The Foxes' New Family

Featured Author, Geraldine Litz
Author of The Foxes' New Family

ABB: Why did you feel you had to tell this story?
Litz: My son and his family moved into a new house. Even though it is in a neighborhood, they are at the end of the street and are surrounded on three sides by woods. Two foxes began to appear in their yard. They have a gazebo and the foxes seemed to get comfortable coming out when my son worked in it. The foxes would lie close by while he worked, so he and his family decided to put stainless steel bowls out there, one with hard dog food and one with water. The foxes took advantage of the offerings. In the fall, they were observed playing with a deer, with leaves, and eating out of the bowl in the company of a deer. I thought all of this was very neat and would make a cute children’s book, especially when it is based on a true story.

ABB: Where do you get your ideas?
Litz: For my children’s books, I have written about true situations in my life with my own animals and others. Over 34 years of teaching, my classes and I have read hundreds of books which fed into my desire to read. I began to know which books would appeal to them. Happy stories with good endings were their favorites. There were so many books for children where the animals died in the end which made all of us cry. So we chose those books that made us feel good and I wanted to write that type of story about animals which had a happy ending.

ABB: Do you ever experience writer’s block and how do you overcome it?
Litz: I have just begun my writing career and so far I have not experienced any writer’s block. I have lots of ideas and I am trying to find enough time in my life to expand them into books.

ABB: What advice would you give to aspiring writers on the writing and publishing process?
Litz: To persevere. I found it difficult to publish on Amazon and CreateSpace as I am not tech savvy enough to do this without professional help. Luckily, I have that help in my family as my two sons are in the IT area and provided needed expertise. I would just advise on not giving up easily as it will come together.

ABB: How do you market your work? Have you found some avenues to be more successful than others?
Litz: As I mentioned, I am a newcomer to this world but my most successful marketing of the children’s book was participating in a book fair where I spoke to elementary school classes and signed books for them. I am still looking for great ways to market my work and fiverr.com has been a big help already. I also put out a press release and received a tv interview on a local show that helped tremendously as well.

ABB: If your book was made into a movie, who do you picture playing each part?
Litz: This particular book would be an animated one if it were to be made into a movie. I wouldn’t know who to recommend in such a situation, but it would need good male and female voices.

5 Stars: This is a well written book for family reading. The fact that it is based on a true story makes it more appealing to all. My friend read this book to two adult residents of a Personal Care Home and the response was "That was a GOOD book, can we read it again?" That emphasizes the fact that books with a simple and loving story can be enjoyed by any age.
