Rage,by Lawrence Gold

Rage
When normal people suddenly attack and murder, their defense attorney hires Dr. Michael Rose, a former cop turned forensic psychiatrist and his associate, Karen Scott to represent them in court. The inexplicable events mystify these experienced professionals, and together they seek a rational explanation.

When psychiatric evaluation reveals a pattern among the subjects, Michael suspects that there is more to these incidents than spontaneous psychosis. Using his instincts and skills as a former police detective, Michael and Karen begin their own investigation. What they uncover is chilling.

Who is behind it? Why is it happening, and most importantly can they do something before the killer strikes again? During the dramatic denouement, Michael must wrestle with his conscience and the true meaning of justice.

About the Author
Lawrence Gold
I was born in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn, moved to Queens, and then, as New Yorkers say, we ascended to the Island. After graduating from Valley Stream Central High School, I went to Adelphi, a college then, a university now, and then to medical school in Chicago. The war in Vietnam interrupted my postgraduate training with a year in Colorado Springs and another as a Battalion Surgeon in Vietnam. I spent seven months in the Central Highlands with the 4th Infantry and five months in an evacuation hospital in Long Binh outside Saigon where I ran the emergency room.

I returned intact in 1968 to complete my training in internal medicine and diseases of the kidney, nephrology. I worked for twenty-three years in Berkeley, California in a hospital-based practice caring for patients with complicated illnesses often in ICU and served as Chief of Medicine.

My wife Dorlis and I retired in October 1995 and sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge for a life at sea in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. Four years later, exhausted from repairing everything on board, (often many times) we sold the sailboat and within a year took the lazy man's out; we bought a Nordic Tug, a trawler. We motored around Florida, the Bahamas, the entire East Coast and completed two 'Circle trips' to Canada and back, eight months, the first time, five months, the second.

I wrote professionally as a physician to inform but rarely to entertain, at least not on purpose. First, "Do No Harm" was published in April 2007. "No Cure for Murder" was released in August 2011. "For the Love of God" was published in January 2012 and "The Sixth Sense" in July 2012. In the last two years, I've written three screenplays based on my novels and hope to see one or more produced for the screen. I submitted my screenplay, "Rage" to the 80th Annual Writer's Digest contest and won honorable mention (57 out of 11,000).

We live in beautiful Grass Valley with 13 year old Mike, a terrier mix and Bennie, a 7 year old purebred though enormous Yorkie.

Author Interview with Evelyn Cullet: Masterpiece of Murder

A Conversation with Evelyn Cullet,
Author of "Masterpiece of Murder"

Featured Author Evelyn Cullet
"Masterpiece of Murder"

Why did you feel you had to tell this story?
I felt writing a novel set in Bariloche, Argentina was a great opportunity to introduce readers to the culture of Patagonia, and to show that a woman with a strong moral character can overcome any unfortunate situation she might be accidently thrust into, even with only a few meager resources to help.

Where do you get your ideas?
As every writer knows that ideas can come from anywhere. For Masterpiece of Murder, the idea came to me when I first heard the name, Bariloche, Argentina. I was taking art classes at the time, and I met an artist who had gone to Barioche to take a Master art class. I was unaware of the city, until I saw photos of gorgeous snow-capped mountains, glaciers, dense woods, and crystalline lakes that were brought in by the artist upon his return. The writer in me immediately thought that the solitude and the scenic beauty of the area would be a unique setting for a romantic suspense novel.

Do you ever experience writer’s block and how do you overcome it?
I think everyone who writes has an occasional bout of writer's block. When I experience it, I usually sit in front of a blank screen and list all the ways I can put my protagonist in jeopardy, or I'll watch a mystery program on television where a word or a look might spark an idea. Most of the time, ideas or dialog will come to mind when I'm doing something other than writing.

What advice would you give to aspiring writers on the writing and publishing process?
Being a writer is not an easy job. Develop a tough skin, critics are everywhere so make sure your work is the best it can be before you put it out there for everyone to read. As far as publishing goes, it has to be the writer's choice. Both traditional publishing and self-publishing have their advantages and disadvantages. Check carefully into each before you make a decision.

How do you market your work? Have you found some avenues to be more successful than others?
I market my work through as many venues as I can: free and paid advertisements, word of mouth and guest blogging. I find that guest blogging works well for me, and I like to pay-it-forward by featuring other guest authors on my own writer's blog each week.

If your book was made into a movie, who do you picture playing each part?
I feel that my protagonist, Charlotte Ross, should be played by Reese Witherspoon, and Brett Stalworth, Charlotte's handsome fiancé, should be played by the talented, Canadian actor, Yannick Bisson. As far as her aging, womanizing, Argentine art instructor, I think Antonio Banderas would fit that part perfectly.

Synopsis:
Heartbroken art student Charlotte Ross, intent on locating her errant fiancé, follows him to Bariloche, Argentina. But her fiancé has his own reasons for being in Bariloche which complicate Charlotte's life and threaten her very existence, as she quickly stumbles into a downward spiral of deceit, art forgery, and murder.
