Author Interview Questions for Christopher A. Pinckley
Reality Creation 101

Q: When did you first start writing and when did you finish your book?
A: I first started writing when I was 16 years old.  I wrote Sci-Fi and fantasy shorts.  Then I got into going to the clubs and chasing girls and acting like an idiot.  That lasted for over a decade (unfortunately) and I did not start writing again until into my 30’s.  I started writing ‘Reality Creation 101’ when I was around 32 years old and didn’t finish it until I was about 37.  But, it was mostly a learning process which entailed learning how to finish what I started.

Q: How did you choose the genre you write in?
A: I chose the genre that most interested me based upon the apparent ‘lack’ in my own life.  I was fascinated by how you become successful and then later how you become ‘spiritual’.  The more I learned and read the more I knew I wanted to write about it one day myself.  You could say that the genre chose me, I didn’t choose it.  The original impetus was to learn how to become successful.

Q: Where do you get your ideas?
A: My ideas are in part through my own studies, but they come mostly from life on the streets.  My life was fairly difficult and I couldn’t seem to understand why.  This was the impetus for reading tons and tons of self help books and later spiritual books.  I wanted to know why some people’s lives seemed so easy why other people’s lives seemed so difficult (like my own).  My ideas are from learning concepts and then applying them to my own life while trying to get myself off of the streets and into an actual life.  In this way I am different from many teachers in that my concepts and ideas are ‘integral’, meaning that I have actually lived them.

Q: Do you ever experience writer’s block and how do you overcome it?
A: To me there is no such thing as ‘writer’s block’; there is simply inspiration or a lack of it.  If you are inspired you can do anything, but if you are not inspired sometimes it’s impossible to get anything done.  If you are feeling stuck in your writing then it might be a good time to revisit some writings, works of art, movies, or places that motivate and inspire you.  Or, perhaps you need to revisit why it is that you are writing; what’s your mission statement?  Why are you doing what you are doing?  Why are you writing?  Visualize your audience: are they like you?  Are they people who need your help or need a story to take them away?  This is a great place to start which is to reclaim the vital spark that moves mountains.

Q: If you had to do it again, is there anything that you would change?
A: I would only change every single thing about the way I approached writing.  For instance, I would have developed a marketing platform first (since I write nonfiction).  I would have attempted to secure a book deal before I even started writing.  I would have researched my target market more thoroughly.  I would have narrowed down the topic of my book and broken it into several different books.  I mean, the list of things that I would do differently is almost endless.  But, that is the trick of life.  No matter how many things you could think of that you would do differently there will always be more.   For instance, if I would have actually executed all of those things when I started I can guarantee you that I would probably still have a whole list of things that I would have done differently.  This is the nature of duality.

Author Interview with Denise Brienne: 10 Things He Thinks During Sex

10 Things He Thinks About During Sex: What Men Think About Other Than Sex (For His Pleasure Series), by Denise Brienne

Synopsis

Imagine this: You’re in bed with the man of your dreams. He’s doing all the naughty things that make your toes curl and your heart pound. The moment he slides inside you is something you have dreamed of for many months. But when you look up into those gorgeous eyes, he seems a little – distracted? Distant? His body is there but his mind is – elsewhere?

How can that be? Isn’t he just as into this amazing lovemaking as you are?

Here’s the truth: Yes, he’s into it. But he’s also thinking about something else!

The fact is that women are simply wired different than men when it comes to the emotional aspect of sex. You might be completely in the moment and entirely enamored with him. But what puts you “in the moment” is not the same as what HE considered “in the moment.” In fact, you might be very surprised by the wide variety of thoughts that flash through his head even as he is having awesome sex with you.

Thinking about different things during sex isn’t unusual. In fact, you might have done it yourself. Come on, admit it – there have been times when your mind wandered at the most inopportune moment. It doesn’t mean that he’s not into you, and it doesn’t mean that he isn’t enjoying the sex with you. But it does mean that you now have an opportunity!

An opportunity? You bet! When you understand what your man might be thinking during sex, you can help him actually enjoy sex more. So without further ado, let’s talk about what goes through his mind when he closes his eyes or gives you that blank look – and then we’ll talk about how you can use that to your advantage for a happier, healthier sexual relationship.

Author Interview Questions for Denise Brienne
10 Things He Thinks About During Sex: What Men Think About Other Than Sex (For His Pleasure Series)

Q. How did you choose the genre you write in?

A. I began writing my first book right after college. I decide that I wanted to make a living writing about something that I was passionate about. And that’s why I write my books about relationships, communication, love advice and other sensual subjects.

Q. Where do you get your ideas?

A. Most of my books are based on a combination of my real life experiences with a little bit of imagination. My stories and relationship guides pull ideas out of my personal journals that I have kept over my life time.

Q. Do you ever experience writer's block, and how do you overcome it?

A. I do get writers block from time to time. The best way that I have discovered to overcome it is to surround myself in the environments that my books take place. So I guess you could say that with my topics that sometimes I actually enjoy having writers block.

Q. What project(s) are you working on now?

A. I am currently working on a few different trilogies. I have a lot of advice about love and relationships that is too detailed to fit comfortably in a single book.

Q. Why did you feel you had to tell this story?

A. I have to tell my story because people need to realize love, relationships, communication and sex are all very important parts of life. Our culture teaches us to keep these topics hidden and I believe that just causes unnecessary discomfort. We need to be open with our needs and desires.

About the Author:
Denise Brienne has always had a passion for writing. Her love of the written word began when she was in college, when she discovered journaling as an outlet for the things running through her head and heart. The day she started writing about a tumultuous relationship in her journal was the day she learned just what powerful emotions the words could convey.

Today, Denise is a published author with many exciting works under her belt. Her books focus on helping women spice up their intimate relationships, solve problems in the bedroom and explore their sensual side.
Denise might be best known for the "101 Series" of books, in which you can always find what you're looking for to spice things up, no matter what stage your relationship is in.

When she's not penning sexy advice or erotic stories, Denise can be found camping, cooking, enjoying nature or discussing relationships over a good cup of French roast coffee.

Author Interview with Julie Joyce: Author Marketing Kit

Synopsis:
Free Resources to JumpStart Your Sales

Author Interview Questions for Julie Joyce, Author of Author Marketing Kit

1. Where do you get your ideas?
Most of the time I write about the things that I need to know about. There is something that I need to know. I research it. I learn about it. I write about it to share with others who need the same information.

2. What advice would you give to aspiring writers?
Just write. Don't let anyone discourage you from transferring your thoughts, ideas and imaginations into a written form so that they can be shared with others. You no longer need to hope that some stodgy publishing house will appreciate your vision. The most amazing benefit the internet has given to indie authors is a direct and unencumbered link to interested readers.

3. What would you like your readers to know about this book or you in general? I am passionate about helping indie authors to exploit all of the free and very affordable ways that they can promote their books. That's what Book Tour Radio is all about. I am an Indie Author myself, so I understand the passion, the journey and the frustrations. This book and the others that are "next steps" are all designed to shorten the learning curve for new authors.

4. Is there a message in your book that you want readers to grasp? I think it is most important for authors to realize that they are responsible for promoting their own book. While this seems tedious or overwhelming to many new authors, the process can be extremely fun and entertaining. Even authors on a shoestring budget can access hundreds of free opportunities to talk about and promote their book.

5. What advice would you give writers on the publishing process? The publishing process is easier now than it has ever been. Cost is no longer a factor. You can have a book on Amazon for free in a day. What you don't know about formatting you can learn on YouTube. What you aren't willing to learn you can outsource for a small fee. However, what all indie authors must always remember is that you need to care enough about your book to make sure that you not only have it properly proofread and edited but that you also provide it with a decent cover that represents the contents inside...because people really do judge a book by its cover.

Note: This is a FREE book for authors.

Author Interview Questions for author Tony Deblauwe
#Managing Up tweet: 140 Tips to Building an Effective Relationship with Your Boss

1. How did you choose the genre you write in?
I’ve been working in corporate life my entire career dealing with human resources, employee relations, leadership, etc. So it’s a natural extension for me to write about subjects related to what I have experience with – especially the topic of employees and bosses. For this book, I wanted to create something that gave people useful information very quickly. When the publisher approached me with the concept of a Twitter style book on the subject of managing up, it made a lot of sense to me.  I enjoy Twitter and so the format was perfect and because I work in Silicon Valley–it’s a great style fit for folks here.

2. What would you like your readers to know about this book in general?
That no matter how you characterize the relationship with your boss – it’s not a one-way street. Both you and your boss have to figure out what the right ways of working together are in order to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. I’m not saying it’s easy but Patrick (my co-writer) and I believe the tweets help remind you of the important concepts that will lead to a more healthy and satisfying communication exchange.

3. Is there a message in your book that you want readers to grasp?
The main thing I want people to think about as they read each of the tweets is to visualize how the statement translates into effective communication. When you want to partner with your boss the right way you also have to look at your own behavior, how you come across, etc. Even if your boss is “bad” you still have an obligation to keep yourself grounded and in check. Collaboration, trust, and respect don’t happen overnight so looking at the whole picture of what a good working relationship looks like is the key takeaway.

4. What was the hardest part about writing your book?
The hardest piece was to take complex theories and practices and condense that into no more than 140 characters per tip. I thought this writing project was going to take a couple of weeks to write because I was confident there was enough info to create 140 tips. As the writing went on it became harder and harder to develop sentences that I felt represented the right stage of development in the boss-employee dynamic (and were 140 characters or less).

5. When you rip out a page from a spiral notebook, do you leave the tabby pieces or do you pull them out?
I’m definitely a clean up the edge kind of guy. Tattered edges only tend to bunch of papers and cling to everything – very annoying!

Confessions of a Gold Digger: She's the Woman You Want to Hate, but Can't

Synopsis
In Confessions of a Gold Digger, Lisa confronts one of the most controversial topics in relationships. She takes readers on a journey through her dates with bitter, broke men looking for a sponsor to courtships with suitors who placed her so high on a pedestal that she wouldn't dare dangle a foot for fear she might fall off (not that they wouldn't catch her). In the end, she shows women how to be a queen instead of a pawn.

Author Interview Questions for Lisa Maria Carroll

Is your book based on real life experiences or all pure imagination?
My book is based on my real life dating experiences.

How did you come up with the title?
A friend gave it to me. I wanted to write a book about relationships, and based on what she knows about me, she thought the title was perfect.

What project are you working on now?
I'm working on a book for teenage girls, called What I Want My Daughters to Know About Life, Love and Sex. I'm also writing my first fiction book under an assumed name.

Are there certain characters you like to go back to, or is there a theme or idea you’d love to work with?
Yes, JAMAAL! Readers can't seem to get enough of him, so he actually has a starring role in my fiction book.

Have you ever gone out in public with your shirt on backwards, or your slippers on, and when realizing it, just said screw it?

Yes (how embarrassing). I was at work and my sweater kept "choking" me. When I realized it was on backwards, I asked a male colleague why didn't he tell me, and he said he thought that was sexual harassment.

How does your family and friends feel about your book?
They loved it, and are proud of me, but they can't believe I shared some of the things I did.

If your book was made into a movie, who do you picture playing each part?
I would definitely choose LisaRaye to play the role of the gold digger. Now, as for the men, I'd love to see Idris Elba in the movie, no matter who he plays.

If you had to choose, who would be your author mentor?
Maya Angelou. I love her as an author and role model.

Dear Dad: Reflections on Fatherhood, by John W. Fountain

Synopsis
Father—a child’s first hero, a key universal figure for us all. A father’s impact is both profound and lasting. Good or bad, our experience with our fathers helps shape our lives. Good fathers lie at the foundation of the success of future generations. For those who have known the love of a father, nothing is comparable.

Neither does anything compare to the pain of those who have suffered fatherlessness. There is hope to be found, within these pages, both in the lasting impact of the men who chose to be a vital presence in the lives of their children, and in the remarkable resilience of those once fatherless children who found life, success, and reconciliation, despite their father’s absence.

Inspired by John W. Fountain’s essay for National Public Radio’s This I Believe series, Dear Dad is a compilation of true narratives written by some of the nation’s finest journalists and writers, assembled for this project by Fountain, himself an award-winning journalist who has been a national correspondent for the New York Times. Men and women from various walks of life and generations, they are black, white, and Hispanic. A good number of them have written for a number of the world’s best-known news organizations—the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, Time magazine, and others.

All of them write herein about the impact of fathers or fatherlessness upon their own lives at a time when a national initiative and even President Barack Obama have sounded the clarion call for responsible fatherhood amid a continuing crisis of paternal absenteeism. But there are no victims in this collective psalm, only victors.

Dear Dad is for everyone who has a father, for everyone who has lost one, loved one, or longed for one, for everyone who happens to be one, and for everyone who longs to be a better one.

* Some parent(s) are not even able to pay for their daughter’s wedding because of what has happened with money in their own lives.

*Some brides are not having their “dream” wedding for a number of reasons such as (a) a lack of money or (b) she and her groom are paying and one of them has debt and she does not want to start her wedding out with debt therefore until all the debt is paid there’s no wedding for years!

If you truly want your marriage to succeed because of money talks, then you have to begin the conversation about money during your engagement that goes beyond your wedding budget. It is an ongoing conversation, not a tweet, text or even a one time chat.

Not sure how to begin this conversation or afraid to even ask your fiance about his financial obligations?
