Why did you feel you had to write Tales from Trattaharia, Emerging Trattah: Chronicle One?
This story, like any other that I write, is more of a calling for me, a divine commission if you will.
Where do you get your ideas?
As this story is divinely inspired, the best answer would be from Spirit.
Do you ever experience writer’s block and how do you overcome it?
I only experience writer's block when I try to insert my own ideas instead of letting God flow through to write what it is that He wants me to write. I've learned very quickly that if I am to be successful then I must be willing to surrender my own thoughts and ideas. I joke with people all of the time saying that God is the writer while I am just the scribe.
What advice would you give to aspiring writers on the writing and publishing process?
There is so much that I have learned that I have actually been asked to write a book on it. But you can't say everything in a Q & A. Therefore, my best advice would be this:
1. Make sure that whatever story you write is one that your heart knows you are meant to share.
2. Settle in and buckle up: the writing process and publishing process can be heart wrenching at times.
3. Writing and getting people to read your writing is a passion that can be dangerously all-consuming. Remember to stay in balance for your own well being as well as keeping your business sense clear because as writers we tend to be emotional about our work. Do what you can do, but know your limits and let others help you when they can.
How do you market your work? Have you found some avenues to be more successful than others?
Your website is your real estate; location, location, location--make it count. Along those same lines, everything that you do should be so different from everyone else that people remember you/your book. In a way, it should be iconographic. I have had people to stop readers of mine on the street, in the subway, etc., because they have recognized my cover art, business cards, bookmarks. Lastly, network, network, network.
If your book was made into a movie, who do you picture playing each part?
I honestly don't know. But, if after you read my book and you have some ideas, feel free to let me know.

Why did you feel you had to write Come Back to Jesus - and Don't Bring Your Blackberry?
I feel that I was led by God to get this message out that we are all too busy with worldly things and we need to cut back so we can spend time with God – who is waiting with open arms. Even if this is the only message I ever carry, I think it’s an important one.
Where do you get your ideas?
Ideas are everywhere! My problem is not finding an idea, but how will I ever find the time to write about all the great ideas I have.
Do you ever experience writer’s block and how do you overcome it?
I don’t believe in writer’s block. As a single mom eight years ago, it was write and get paid, or don’t eat. Amazing how that can rid you of any notion of writer’s block.
What advice would you give to aspiring writers on the writing and publishing process?
Keep going. Even if you feel you’re writing crap that day, go ahead and write it. You can fix it another day. On the publishing side, getting published is difficult and you may feel battered through the process, so you have to really want it.
How do you market your work? Have you found some avenues to be more successful than others?
I’m still learning what works. I ask people individually to recommend my work, and I find I have to ask them in person. Emailing doesn’t work. Because mine is such a small, directed niche, there are many ideas that don’t work. I built a website specifically for the book (rather than market it from my personal website, tanyalogan.com) and that seems to have boosted the sales.

That’s not really applicable to my bible study.

Why did you feel you had to tell this story?
I feel I had to tell this story for two reasons. For starters, I had to tell this story because for me, writing helps release the tensions, challenges and pains in life that we may not otherwise release. Writing is an outlet, and when I write, I have the opportunity to express exactly how I feel. For me, writing is cathartic. Sometimes, when I don’t wish to articulate verbally, I can become more transparent and understood after writing my thoughts on paper. Yes, paper.
Of course, I transfer the final product electronically, but my first draft is always on paper. The reason I begin the “old school way” is because I can see my thought process and how it evolves. I have something to build upon. I will quickly jot things down and eventually, remove them or place them elsewhere in the story. I love to visualize my inner ideas. Ultimately, I enjoy the freedom of expression and the flexibility to add or strike through what I need to, when I need to.
The second reason I had to tell this story was because I wanted to share some of my personal experiences and pains in life. I’ve re-lived some of the pains that so many of us encounter, but may be reticent to speak about. I had a story that I had to tell. I cover the thorns of anxiety, depression and loss. From Pain to Praise is a collection of short stories, poetry and words of inspiration. I give you a taste of it all. It’s about life, love and everything in between. It will make you smile. It will soothe your soul. And then… you will be filled with praise!
Where do you get your ideas?
I get my ideas straight from the heart. I write from personal experiences and from the experiences of others. I write from observation and from things which inspire me; whether it’s through music, movies, and conversations or sometimes from ideas that just seem to come from somewhere deep within. This happens often as I write poetry. Sometimes the words and ideas just seem to flow. I feel that my writing, concept and ideas are a gift. And the more I give, the more the gift allows me to give back. Though cliché, it’s better to give than to receive. And if giving makes someone’s day a bit brighter, my goal is to give my all.
Do you ever experience writer’s block and how do you overcome it?
Of course, I experience writer’s block. Sometimes those ‘blocks’ seem to last forever. If I am at a loss of inspiration or words, I become agitated because I know the words are there, I just can’t seem to grasp them. One of my favorite quotes comes from Ayn Rand: Words are a lens to focus one’s mind. So, when I write, my mind and its contents seem to veer into focus.
Once I have placed my thoughts on paper, my mind is cleared. When I have a block, I have to walk away from what I am trying to create and do something else. I will listen to music or read, call someone close to me or read a book by one of my favorite authors. And just when I begin to release the tension from writer’s block, the block seems to vanish. Thus, I can write again!
What advice would you give to aspiring writers on the writing and publishing process?
My first piece of advice is to write, write, and write. If you aspire to be a writer, don’t allow anything or anyone to stand in your way or minimize your dream. Write with passion. Be enthusiastic about your contribution to everyone and also encourage other aspiring writers. I always try to support other writers/authors. A few days ago, I entered a book store, preparing for my book signing. Another author was preparing to leave, as her signing was over. We chatted a few moments, wished each other well and exchanged information about each of our books. We were ecstatic that our books were being sold for the same price, so we supported each other by exchanging books! I’ve experienced a great deal of camaraderie with so many authors. For me, competing is not an issue because there is room for everyone. Write a great book and eventually the masses will leap at the opportunity to read and enjoy your work.
As far as the publishing process is concerned, there is a lot to learn. My advice on that is to do your homework. Research and learn as much as you can. Use search engines, attend workshops for writers/authors, reach out to others and find out what worked best for them and how they made it as far as they did. Check out the blogs and seek advice from anyone you can in the publishing process. Gather information from as many resources you can. Find your niche ask questions, seek answers and strive for what works best for you… and begin your strategy!
How do you market your work? Have you found some avenues to be more successful than others?
I am an emerging author, so there is so much I have yet to learn. I am excited for what’s to come and my goal is to be the best that I can be.
My favorite author is Kimberla Lawson Roby. She is an awesome story teller and is readily accessible on Twitter. Through her website and social media, she appears kind, humble, gracious and approachable. I believe those qualities alone are some powerful marketing tools. She also keeps her readers informed about upcoming speaking events, sneak previews of upcoming titles and future speaking engagements. These are great marketing tools that I admire her for embracing. I am planning my path as an author along the same lines. And as long as your path is positive, this is how I can define “success.”

I experience writers blog when I try to write relying on my own understanding .I overcome such writers block through seeking the Holy Spirit for inspiration and understanding of what to write.
What advice would you give to aspiring writers on the writing and publishing process?
As a Christian writer my writing and publishing experience, my first advice is that you need inspiration from the Holy Spirit to be able to write. Secondly it is important that a writer who writes under the influence of the Holy Spirit realizes that his or her gift is a legacy gift from God, therefore the focus must be on using the gift in line with Gods will and not just writing or publishing anything that can sell. My initial experience of trying to publish my book I discovered there was not much help out there for Christian authors. You can read more about my publishing saga from Many Christian authors even though have important messages is either they don't have the means to publish it for a majority of the Christian publishing houses are uninterested. My not so good experience eventually led me to start a Christian publishing business, dedicated to offering Christian writers the relevant spiritual professional support they require their manuscript into a God glorifying book.
How do you market your work? Have you found some avenues to be more successful than others?
Marketing is one of the major challenges faced by Christian authors as an author and publisher always exploring various means and avenues promoting books in a cost effective way, place such a social media, press releases and word of mouth are some of the avenues I have used for the promotion of my book. The other avenue that I have also explored organizations or services that specializes in book promotion in a nut shell book promotion is something I consider as an art and the author especially Christian authors have to put more effort in publishing their books for instance online to raise awareness of their book and in so doing increase sales.

Author Interview With Adam Graham: Fly Another Day

Why did you feel you had to tell this story?
After my first novel, Tales of the Dim Knight was released, I realized two things.
First, there really was more we could do with the character. Based on listener feedback, I felt like we could do a more focused story, so Fly Another Day is the beginning of a brand new series for my superhero Powerhouse. It’s the first of what will be a five book series, with one key central plot working through each episode. The second book, Powerhouse Hard Pressed will be out this week, and the third one, Ultimate Midlife Crisis is available in June.
Second, when I started with Tales of the Dim Knight, I set out to poke fun and play with every superhero trope and conventions. As I began to research the possibility of a second book (research=reading comic books and watching superhero programs), I realized I had quite a bit of comedic material to work through. And I would never leave that much material on the table.
Where do you get your ideas?
Most of the parody ideas come from the source material will come from superhero stories themselves. One of my favorite examples is a silver age Daredevil comic book I read in which he faced Electro who bragged about “almost defeating Spider-man.” In this book we introduce the character of the Silver Medal who brags about everyone he almost defeated (but ended up losing to.) Another classic item that invited parody is a 1994 Iron Man cartoon in which our hero announces that he can use sound energy in place of solar energy and escapes from the villains on the strength of a cassette tape of classical music in the Walkman of a teenage girl.
Beyond those sorts of parodies and homages, I really keep my eyes open looking for story ideas and they are everywhere. I received an email from someone who was very passionate about an issue of etiquette and maybe a little overwrought. And it occurred to me that would be fun to have an insane etiquette blogger who is over the top rude in his advocacy of good manners, and then as we wrote the story, he became one of the main villains in Powerhouse Hard Pressed.
Do you ever experience writer’s block and how do you overcome it?
I do and usually it’s caused either by lack of rest or more often, taking the story in the wrong direction. If it’s the first, I try to go to bed and realize at some point that I’m not making progress and step back. In the other case, I journey back through the book and I find where my plot took a wrong turn and I take the book in another direction. If I’ve written anything significant, I’ll save it in a file for “cuts.” And then resume my story.
What advice would you give to aspiring writers on the writing and publishing process?
First, find what writing style works for you. There are some fairly absolute writing rules out there as well as some rules set by your publisher if you opt to publish traditional. Beyond that, there’s a lot of writing advice out there you have to wade through. How do you research? How do you write? What programs do you use? You have to be very careful that you don’t adopt practices that sabotage yourself.
In the 21st Century, I think the most important decision is whether to self-publish or not. The big question you need to answer before you do that is why you want to self-publish. There are many great reasons to self-publish. For me, it’s a matter of writing in a genre without a lot of other publishers. Others just want to write and publish prolifically without the red tape of a publisher. Still others are uber marketers and the only thing traditional publishers could do for them is relieve them of part of the profits.
There are bad reasons to self-publish too. You shouldn’t self-publish to avoid editing, and you shouldn’t self-publish expecting things to be easy. You’ll need a lot of help and it’ll be a lot of work, and the only way it pays off is with a quality product.
How do you market your work? Have you found some avenues to be more successful than others?
I do plenty of Goodreads Giveaways. (You can follow my goodreads author page for more info. I do blog interviews and I’m willing to try almost anything. I even tried advertising on movie screens back in 2011.

Dave and Naomi Johnson would be played by first time Hollywood actors, not stars to reflect their regular people nature. Robert Downey, Jr would be great as Mitch Farrow, CEO of Dorado Incorporated, a very complex villain. I’d love to see Dana Carvey given a shot at a comeback playing Mr. Manners, the mad etiquette blogger. David Hasselhoff would make a cameo as reformed mob boss Marco Silvano. In Powerhouse Hard Pressed, Marco shows up dressed as a sea captain wearing a beard. I’d love to see Hasselhoff pull that off.

Synopsis
