The Britannia Conspiracy, by Peter Middleton

The Britannia Conspiracy, by Peter C. Middleton
"Refreshingly original, vividly engaging, suspenseful and action-packed from start to finish." - Amazon Review

An action-packed horror-thriller laced with dark, cynical humour and torturous cliffhangers as Britain faces what could very well be the very final chapter in its long and illustrious history.

Great Britain has produced its fair share of heroes, men and women who've fought bravely to protect and defend their nation. Boudicca was one of the first, a fierce warrior-queen who, in AD 61, united Britain’s tribes, and led them to glorious victories over the occupying Roman armies. During these great battles her hordes mercilessly killed around 100,000 legionaries and hung, burned or crucified their prisoners. Two thousand years later, those same Roman soldiers are back, emerging from their graves with an insatiable desire for vengeance, and a ravenous thirst for blood.

When traditional weapons fail to destroy them, a new generation of heroes must rise and step forward; ordinary people, with extraordinary skills, willing to risk their lives in a battle against the living and the dead. They have just hours to uncover a secret that has been hidden for nearly two millennia, and recover the one relic that can send this invincible zombie army back to hell. If they fail, they will be the last heroes Britain will ever have, because the nation’s history will come to a devastating and cataclysmic end.

Every minute counts in this highly entertaining, fast-paced action thriller, full of engaging characters and a relentless stream of tortuous cliffhangers that will keep you thoroughly engaged until its breathtaking and truly devastating finale. You will find it hard to put this book down and will be left desperate to read the next Britannia novel.

Blood for Blood, by D S Allen

Blood for Blood
When you lose yourself, you lose everything.

In the midst of the religious and political fermentation of Cromwell’s Interregnum, Daniel Davenport, a Royalist captain imprisoned in Fisherton Anger Gaol since the battle of Worcester, must act quickly after his sister has been accused of witchcraft and murder. Manfred Hugo’s crusade against brother and sister binds together the fate of many in a tragedy of their times.

"Blood For Blood" reflects the struggles of new and old government, true friendship and enmity, great events and the struggles of daily life, the fate of rulers and their subjects, the power and fragility of love and how blind corroding hatred consumes the soul.

Spit of a Minute, by Linda Dickson

A relentless Southern classic...

"In the tradition of John Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath, Linda Dickson has written a sweeping epic about the hopelessness of the Southern poor. For her first novel, the ambitious scope of Spit of A Minute is truly breathtaking. Not to mention that the dialect is spot on throughout. (Yes, that is how us Southerners really talk). Starting in 1928, Spit of a Minute follows Queenie and her family from the barnyard floor of a dirt farm in Tennessee to Hell’s Kitchen in New York City. From gypsies to jezebels, mules to monkeys, and everything in between, Ms. Dickson crafts a rich slate of Flannery O’Connor-esque characters. You cannot help but find yourself pulling for them all, even the mean, low-down drunks and the whores. Make no mistake, however, Queenie’s is not a sappy coming of age story. Ms. Dickson fearlessly pulls no punches. I cannot wait to see what this original voice comes up with next."

A fourteen year old girl is playing with a litter of kittens in a tobacco barn. Her aging parents have already slipped into a great depression of their own. Her brothers named her 'Queenie' and it stuck. Queenie steps from the barn to welcome a man from a neighboring farm. A frustrated man drunk on corn liquor and rage. Three children, an alcoholic husband and a monkey later, she's living in the city and struggling to keep a clean house and beans on the stove when the "Eye-talian" pilot from New York City asks her opinion on fryer hens in the grocery. He's smooth. He takes her to places with white table cloths.

World War II deploys the pilot to Europe and Queenie to the Big Apple. Survival on the streets of NYC for Queenie and her baby girl, Abba Gee, is a war story of another kind.

Queenie makes decisions without options. Her's is a story of what can happen to any of us if we are not paying attention.

"Told from a Southern point of view, funny, sad, and partially true. Queenie is the grandmother I did not know. A lifetime of rumors and over heard gossip painted this character. Others speak of grandmothers who smelled of talcum powder and passed on receipes while Queenie's legacy echos stories of grit and how life can change in the Spit of a Minute."

"Dickson's language is palpably evocative of the period--you could vividly imagine the scenes in sepia, peopled by those long-ago characters that now only exist as memory."

"Dickson writes with a relaxed, leisurely cadence with confidence in her own literary powers. She effectively simulates the feel and mood of the South, as well as the hustle and bustle of the city--something about the writing, not the plot, that reminds me so much of Harper Lee's classic `To Kill a Mockingbird.'

"Dickson's compelling narrative subtly shifts in tone and texture according to the changes in time, and this is one of the qualities in her writing that makes me hope she actually writes more, and soon."

About the Author

The Floating Man, by William Crawford

An amazing scientific discovery in 1830 leads to a government cover-up spanning two centuries and two continents, leaving a trail of death and destruction in its wake. The Floating Man is a mystery thriller that takes place in both past and present as fictional and historical characters collide in a story of discovery, love, ambition, greed, death, and redemption.

When ‘burned out’ investigative reporter John Hill returns home to take over the Beaufort Sentinel from his friend and mentor, James Campbell, he finds that his friend has literally fallen onto the story of a lifetime. The headline from 1830 screams out at them: Floating Man from France to perform Aerial Stunts this Saturday.

Who was Henri Richaud? An early hot air balloonist . . . or something else? How did he end up on a plantation run by Harriott Pinckney Horry, one of South Carolina’s most famous women? As John and James begin their search for this mysterious friend of Napoleon and protégé of Pierre-Simon Laplace—one of the greatest scientists of all time—they find that virtually all historical references to him have been deleted.

John and James soon enlist the help of John’s former investigative partner, Sheila Jefferson, now a staffer on the National Security Council. Big mistake. While romance ensues, alarm bells go off in a deeply embedded rogue cell of America’s labyrinthine intelligence apparatus. They soon find out that their search for Henri Richaud and the memoirs of the Sentinel’s founder, Robert Campbell, has deadly consequences. For Sheila, an erotic obsession turns violent as agents from the “Program” are dispatched to keep tabs on our trio.

Join John, James, and Sheila, along with a cast of historical characters that includes Napoleon, Andrew Jackson, Chief John Ross of the Cherokee Nation and Harriott Pinckney Horry and the slaves of Hampton Plantation as they try to stay one step ahead of their pursuers in both the past and present.

Floating Man Author Bio
A graduate of Northwestern University, William Crawford began telling stories at the age of five to his cousins late at night while on family vacations in the Great North Woods. This quickly progressed—if you can call two decades quickly progressing— to political satire. In 1996 the author created a parody on the OJ Simpson saga. My Search for the Real Killer, not by OJ Simpson became a minor cult classic. The author’s real ambition was to become a novelist. Over the years he developed several storylines. Once he retired from his safety position in government he turned that ambition into reality. The result is the Floating Man: a mystery thriller that takes place in both past and present.

Swallowing his pride, he recognizes that Homer, a young blind woman is a necessary ally. Kindle Spotlight: Wisdom Unsung: Historic Proof that Women are the World's Best Leaders, by Sara Bartlett

The Feminine Mistake

Writer/historian Sara Bartlett, in this series of three books, tackles the fear or dangerous disinterest that women have of fighting for leadership positions in their lives. In the first book, she proves that history is full of women leaders going all the way back to cave women days on up to the 15th century.

She shows, through humor and historical accounts, how women and girls from all walks of life stepped up to become significant leaders in many, many ways despite really harrowing circumstances. No one in today’s corporate world is asking a woman on her way up to cut off one of her breasts like the ancient Amazons. No one is forced to suffer the bone fracturing rack like preacher Anne Askew had to do. Today’s woman does not have to fear being burned as a witch for her beliefs. If they can survive that, why is 50 percent of the population so afraid?

Some reasons for this fear are valid. Some are not, and Bartlett is a cheerleader for facing those fears and coming forward anyway. She breaks down how leadership is defined through seven pillars of what we should be looking for in a successful leader, and none of them involves holding a title of any kind.

She rings the alarm bells for the disappearance of women in decisions of world peace, as opposed to the stampeding military industrial complex, in education as opposed to No Child Left Behind, and in politics where personal decisions about their bodies are still determined by men.

The second book tells of the valiant women of the 19th century, particularly the Civil War, that created unlikely women heroes on the battlefield, in medicine, in politics, and so much more. The third book brings us to the 20th and 21st centuries with a plea to recognize the brilliant women leaders of all ages.

Official Book Video Trailer: A Demand of Blood, by Nadia Dean

"A Demand of Blood," by Nadia Dean

Decades of tensions between the Cherokee Indians and frontier settlers exploded in the year that marked American independence: 1776. As southern colonists prepared to fight Britain, Cherokee warriors stepped up their struggle for sovereignty. Dragging Canoe, the charismatic Cherokee war leader and staunch British ally, waged guerilla warfare throughout the southern colonies in an effort to regain control over native hunting grounds. In retaliation, colonial powers sent 6,000 militiamen into Cherokee country to destroy towns and crops. This is the saga of two separate, simultaneous wars. It depicts the courage, betrayal, honor, and sacrifice of each side of the conflict. Based on extensive historical research, A Demand of Blood uncovers for the first time the story of the Cherokees' war for independence and reveals the struggle at the heart of all humanity: the quest for freedom.

Kindle Spotlight: Love and My Iron Chef

Love and My Iron Chef, by Joanna Hynes

AN AMAZON HOT NEW RELEASE AND AMAZON BEST SELLER!

Synopsis:
As Amani frantically diced the ingredients for her Pan seared Mahi-Mahi with Mango Salsa, she recalled her first meeting with him during a class he taught on the presentation of food and organization the previous year. Amani had been immediately drawn to the tall, serious Californian, and not just because of his looks. With dark wavy hair, strong features and the deepest blue eyes she had ever seen short of Paul Newman’s, David Spencer was everything Amani admired in a man, and then some.

During class, watching his hands work his food, Amani had wondered what those hands would feel like stroking her back and hips. She wondered what it would feel like to cuddle into his embrace, his broad and well-muscled arms enveloping her in their heated cocoon. David was no slouch, but somewhat of a fitness freak outside of the kitchen. Not only was he an adept surfer, he was also, according to gossip, an experienced rock climber.......

About the Author
