Summer fun is coming! And other than turning thirteen, twins, Meghan and Colin Jacoby, are looking forward to a typical summer... well, typical for them. Which means their uncle (and guardian) will pull into the Cobbscott Campground and park his travel trailer for three full months.

Normally, they'd never spend more than a couple weeks in any one place, their uncle preferring to move around. But only until summer when they'd be Cobbscott bound.

Why did he do this every summer? Why did he prefer to move around? The twins have never thought to ask.

Their only concern being that their friend Sebastien would be in Cobbscott as well... the one person who also happens to know their secret- that they can read each other's minds.

Arrival at the campground goes as expected and within hours, Meghan and Colin are already making plans to meet up with Sebastien. But before they do, the campground gets some unexpected visitors.

Visitors with reserved campsites. Sites that have been reserved, but unused, for years.

The twins always wondered who reserved and never used these campsites and now that they have seen the owners, the twins can't help but get an ominous feeling.

These visitors dress strange and act strange, taking hikes into the woods wearing winged tipped shoes and overcoats, disappearing into things clearly too small to fit so many people, and they never stop peering into the sky as if expecting to see something terrible.

And when unexplainable and frightening events follow their arrival, the twins realize that this summer, will be their least typical of all...

Last Light Falling: The Covenant, Book I, by J.E. Plemons

Last Light Falling: The Covenant, Book I, by J.E. Plemons
If your fate has already been chosen for you, would you change it? Fifteen-year-old Arena Power blindly accepts her destiny in a world filled with tragedy, chaos, and a lingering wickedness that will tempt every man's soul until the last days on Earth. Set in the United States in the year 2053, America, like most of the world, has undergone catastrophic earthquakes, famine, and an economic collapse, which has rendered the nation hopeless. It has turned to other nations, like Russia and China, to help restore what was once a world power. Unfortunately, the new America has grossly caused civil unrest that will eventually be the precursor to a much bigger war of biblical proportions.

Orphaned at the age of nine, Arena and her twin brother, Gabe, have learned to rely on each other through the toughest times. Not only do they share the same birthday and the tragic loss of their parents, they both have a birthmark on the back of their necks in the shape of a crucifix. This is only but a small sign of the destiny that will follow. On their fifteenth birthday, they receive a mystery letter and key from their estranged Uncle Finnegan. This key will unlock their fate, and it will be up to a priest, who has vowed to protect them since birth, to unfold the layers of their destiny-to undo the evil that has spoiled the world, and to help unleash God's wrath upon those who have turned from Him in the last days of history.

Last Light Falling weaves righteousness with evil, treachery with truth, and shows just how far the will of man can survive on faith alone. Arena and Gabriel's fate will determine that course of history for which has already been written. They were not born to save the world; they were chosen to prepare it for the final days.

An Intervention of Angels, by J Battle

The Intervention of Angels, by J Battle
***FREE KINDLE DOWNLOAD STARTS JUNE 3, 2014***

Smart, Amusing, Sexy, Vicious and Bloody ~Authonomy Review

If the dark clouds stoop our shoulders and the barren land refuses life, without an intervention of angels, how can we hope to survive? A tale of eternal war between cat-like aliens and ape-like aliens, fought with ritual and honour, until the arrival of a stricken craft from a devastated Earth changes everything.

The clamour of war calls again to the Cats and the Apes, and Handus is really screwed. Somehow, he’s been chosen to be the Cats’ Champion, and how can that work out well for him? He’s well trained, but he’s small, and the Apes are so big, and that ugly one keeps grinning at him. Beneath the shadow of The Wall, he must prove himself a hero, or end up a dismembered corpse. When a stricken craft from Earth arrives, is change possible? Or is there just another enemy to fight? The eight humans could mean victory; but they don’t yet know about the Succ-y-Rist. If one man can take his eyes off the glorious Pi for a single second, and another reconsider his bathing regime then, just maybe, they can save a world; or die trying.

There is treachery and blood; heroism and folly, and a multitude of aliens. And the sex; don't forget the sex.

Sol Invictus: A Christmas Tale, by J. Paul Roe

Sol Invictus, by J. Paul Roe
Nolan Ridgeway hates Christmas. His wife is dead. His daughter is missing.

A powerful stranger promises to make things right, and a deal is struck that raises more questions than answers.

Now, an ancient demon is hunting the children of men and only Nolan can stop it...with a little help from an elder god and his half-sized helpers.

To save us all, a man with nothing left...must give up everything.

-----

J. Paul Roe's premier novella on Amazon.com explores the most frightening aspects of growing up human. A dark past full of abusive parents, loneliness, teenage angst and unbridled violence haunt the protagonist as he struggles to defeat the demon that he, himself, empowered. Touching on true-to-life topics from the pagan origins of Christmas to the dull, selfish commercialism of modern holidays, this story grabs hold and doesn't let go of you until the end!

About the Author
J. Paul Roe
J. Paul Roe was born in Miami, Florida. He started writing at a very young age, making hand-bound books with crayon and typing paper. His parents were proud of his curiosity and creativity, and would often find him looking up words in the dictionary well before his first year in public school.

His early literary inspirations came about while Roe was in elementary school. He began reading Michael Crichton novels obsessively after being caught up in the "Jurassic Park" craze. It was during this time that he also discovered Edgar Allen Poe, whose works had managed to not only survive through the years, but permeate many forms of modern media from film to Saturday-morning cartoons.

His formal writing experience stretches back to high school, where he served as the editor for the school newspaper for four years. It was during this time that he was introduced to the writing of Ernest Hemingway, and quickly found a role model that would inspire him for the rest of his life. After graduating, he served in the Marine Corps, and was discharged honorably due to injuries sustained while serving. He then continued onto college, where he studied psychology and philosophy and developed a passionate drive to seek a better understanding of the human condition.

In the spirit of Hemingway, Roe has always pursued an "interesting life." He believes that there's more value to experience than to material gain or worldly success, and has often been heard saying, "what's the point of living a life that wouldn't make a good movie? When people see my story played out, I don't want them falling asleep."

In these grim times, people kill for food, water and weapons. They scratch out a feeble existence after “The Ejection.” But not Shep. His biggest question each day in his underground bunker is “Cheese Ravioli, Beefaroni or SpaghettiOs?”

Shep soon discovers that nothing in this new world is guaranteed. He and Antigone, a girl he rescues, are forced to take a perilous journey across an unyielding landscape toward the one place rumored to be unsullied by the disaster. Known Afterlife (The Provider Trilogy), by Trey Copeland

Known Afterlife: The Provider Trilogy Volume One
On the utopian world called the Provider, the Deagron Maker waits for destiny.

10,000 years ago, the deagrons reigned supreme. If left unchecked, the alien creatures’ insatiable hunger for the life giving Source was certain to obliterate the Provider. Forced to the brink of extinction, man discovered the power to shift the Source, spawning the first race, known then and now, as Guardians. Emergence of the Guardians turned the tide in the fight for survival, vanquishing the Deagron Maker and its spawn, ending thousands of years of unabated carnage. Or so it is believed, for it is recorded in the Deeds.

In the 6,000 years that followed, Citizens attained enlightenment, reincarnating as one of the four races- Guardian, Shifter, Healer or Mystic- and living the Certain Way as decreed by their beloved deity and planet: the Provider. As a present day Guardian, Steffor's role in society remains that of protector, defending Citizens from, while mundane in comparison to the deagrons, the inherent dangers associated with life in perpetual wilderness, coexisting with a myriad of lethal predators. When not serving as a resident hero, Steffor spends his time training for the Dive. Having finally qualified for this year's championship, manifesting his future fame is close at hand. That is, if it were not for the events, long in the coming, manifesting a different future for Steffor and his peaceful society. A future in direct lockstep with destiny.

On Antium, a world ruled by the ancient and merciless Church of Salvation, humankind has all but lost the will to grow, to dream, to aspire for a transcendent existence. Armed with the motive, the technology and the capital means, Stalling Alterian and his cadre of gifted conspirators lead a fertile insurrection against the global theocracy. Committed to saving their society, or die trying, the crucial and final phase of their clandestine mission only moments away from completion, Stalling discovers a fatal error in his calculations that threatens to destroy it all. Absenet of any solution and the enemy rapidly closing in, can Stalling impose his technological miracle onto humanity before the noose pulls tight?

Stalling and Steffor inhabit different worlds, yet they are connected. Together, but unbeknownst to one of them, they race towards an inevitable, if unimaginable collision.

As the years pass, new growth and beauty are left in the wake of her constant travels.

One day, Karmen risks her life for love and nearly dies. The consequences of her choice force her from the sanctuary she helped to create. After an awakening, she exists in a harsh civilization where innocence is but a distant memory. Will she be able to adapt to her new surroundings? Or will she perish along with the splendor she once knew?

"A Story of Life" is brought to you by Mobile Poetry, a company dedicated to publishing quality content optimized for reading on mobile devices.

I can't begin to tell how this book has impressed me. In less than 6 thousand words, the author was able to give many important messages, and it's so beautifully written. He is a natural storyteller. This is not, however, like the many other books you've read. It will get you thinking, and it's likely going to change you, as it did to me. Everyone should read "A Story Of Life." After all, a bit of intelligent fun never hurt anyone. Amazing book. ~Giselly Lillmans, Smashwords

Book excerpts
Chapter 34
After many summers, she felt her appearance change, and the sisters prepared her ceremony for the big change. She was about to become a woman. She was rolled into the leaves, and the sisters softly let her down on the ocean floor. While she sank down, her consciousness slowly faded away, but she wasn’t worried. She heard them sing in her head and she knew she was safe. Winter came and went.

Chapter 37
She read the strange signs, and the first cloud in a long time appeared on the blue sky. Slowly the boats turned and set sail home, or the place which once had been her home.

Author Interview with Mike Kilroy: Nine Meals

Why do you feel you had to write "Nine Meals"?
It was a story I had kicking around in my head for quite some time. There was a major power outage where I live, and we were without electricity for three days. That’s when the major plot of “Nine Meals” took shape. As a society, we are so reliant on our fragile infrastructure. I wondered what would happen to us if this outage was permanent. And “Nine Meals” was born.

From where do you get your ideas?
I am a what-if person. I often ponder scenarios and wonder what would happen if X, Y or Z were about to occur. I also take things from my personal life and through observations of the people around me. What is my biggest fear? What are my friends’ biggest worries? Hopes? Dreams? Desires? A good book isn’t about the plot but the people in it.

Do you ever experience writer's block, and how do you overcome it?
I don’t experience writer’s block per se, but I do go into what I call a “writing slump.” When this happens, I just keep writing, even if I think what I have written is terrible. Even in the worst pages, there are salvageable pieces that I can pluck out later when I break out of my slump. I liken it to a hitter in baseball. You have to keep swinging.

What advice would you give to aspiring writers?
Don’t get discouraged. You will be rejected. People will say nasty things about what you have written. Not everyone is going to love every single word. That’s okay. This is the best time to be a writer. There are so many outlets to get your work out there, and if it is good and if you have poured it out from your heart, the majority of the people will gain something from it. Just keep at it.

How do you market your work? Are some avenues more successful than others?
There is no better promotional device than word-of-mouth. I have seen sales of “Nine Meals” build like a snowball rolling down a hill, and that has come mostly from word-of-mouth. Someone reads it and likes it, so they recommend it to someone else, who reads it and likes it and so on and so forth. Another great avenue is Author & Book Buzz. I saw my sales explode when I used their promotion service.

If your book was made into a movie, who would play each role?
That’s a great question. What author hasn’t thought about who would play their protagonist in a movie? There is no doubt the perfect actress for my heroine would be Ellen Page. She has that spunky personality of Antigone. As for the male lead, that is a bit more difficult. There’s always Nicolas Cage – he’s in everything.

About the Book
When the sun belched and the power grid failed, it was only nine meals until the end of the world. Billy “Shep” Shepard always thought the apocalypse would come from an asteroid with a funny name, or a super bug, or a nuclear war, or even Yellowstone blowing its top. It came from none of those things. Instead it came from an angry sun in the form of the biggest Coronal Mass Ejection mankind had ever seen – and it slapped the human race back a century.

Along the way they must overcome hunger, disease, desperation and death while running from a man who wants nothing more than vengeance.
