Dysfunctional families are part of our modern reality just as much as global warming and pollution. Sadly, bullying, peer pressure, and feelings of angst and confusion are also part of how we experience life on a day-to-day basis. Erik Daniel Shein and Theresa A. Gates took all these things and combined them with fantasy-related elements, myths, and legends, thus creating a touching and inspiring story of pain, change, and joy.
“The Monsterjunkies: An American Family Odyssey (“Being a Normal Family is a State of Mind”)” is the first book in this series. This novel tells the story of a family and its daily struggles as its members fight against serious issues like bullying, abuse, and unjust labeling, as well as against everyday difficult problems and events (stress, a parent’s absence, parents/children conflicts, etc).

Erik Daniel Shein was born Erik Daniel Stoops, November 18th 1966 He is an American writer, and Visionary, film producer, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, and philanthropist, Pet enthusiast and animal health advocate . He is the author and co authored of over 30 nonfiction and fiction books whose writings include six scientific articles in the field of herpetology. His children's book, "The Forgotten Ornament" is a Christmas classic, and was endorsed by Hollywood legends Mickey and Jan Rooney.
One of his passions is classic Animation, including his CGI and 2D original story, "The Legend of the Secret Pass" which was made into an independent theatrical animated motion picture with several A list celebrities. He was instrumental in raising productions funds and working with his team to make the project come to fruition. With Legend of Secret Pass Mr. Shein used his zoology studies, and his love for Fortean Zoology and American Indian mythology to weave a story that may become a classic fable. Mr. Shein also created the TV show Reptile Chronicles where he hosted each adventure as the character Professor E with his animated side kick, Doupy the Gila monster. The show received three media industry awards.
Mr. Shein has consulted over the years with such organizations as the Arizona Fish and Game Department and USFWS in assisting them to protect endangered wildlife. He has lectured in over 400 elementary schools, on many conservation and animal-related topics.
Mr. Shein's media, ecological and educational goals are to protect and preserve the world's flora and fauna. One of his dreams is to find a host city and create the Earth Genomic Institute and wildlife sanctuary. He currently resides in Arizona.
