Making Wishes by Marilyn Holdsworth

Making Wishes, by Marilyn Holdsworth
Elloree Prince is an attractive, creative young woman who marries a wealthy businessman, Tom Randall. After courting his bride with unrelenting determination, Tom moves her into old-moneyed Oak View, where generations of Randalls have lived for years. Outwardly, Elloree appears to settle into raising their two sons within Oak View’s stifling social structure, but inwardly, she yearns for her artistic work. An unexpected phone call from Mark Williams, her former employer, offers her the career opportunity of a lifetime, and she must make a choice. She is torn between her devotion to her sons and her love for her work. Her decision to return to Wishes, Inc. brings dramatic life changes to her and the people she loves.

About the Author
Marilyn Holdsworth
As a novelist, I draw on many real life experiences to provide background for my books. After completing studies in Literature and History at Occidental College, I became a staffwriter on a travel magazine, and throughout my career I have traveled extensively all over the world.

Because I love horses, I owned and trained them. I support horse rescue and wild mustang preservation. Based on my experience with horses and my research on abuse issues, I wrote Pegasus.

As a descendant of James Monroe, I did extensive research at the James Monroe Museum in Virginia about him and his wife Elizabeth Kortright Monroe. I also visited their home, Ashlawn/Highland in Albemarle County. This resulted in my novel, The Beautiful American.

Making Wishes, was based partly on my experiences as creator, owner and operator of a greeting card company.

My books are published by AuthorHouse and sold worldwide by Amazon, Barnes&Noble and major bookstores as hardcover, paperback or ebooks.

Fasting: An Exceptional Human Experience, by Randi Fredricks Ph.D.

Since prehistory, fasting has been used in various ways as a means of transformation. As a spiritual practice, it is the oldest and most common form of asceticism and is found in virtually every religion and spiritual tradition.

In psychology, studies have suggested that fasting can alleviate the symptoms of some psychiatric conditions, including depression and schizophrenia. In medicine, fasting is one of the most promising therapies, with research suggesting that fasting can cause certain drugs, such as chemotherapy, to work better while reducing drug side-effects. Hunger striking, sometimes called political fasting, may be the most powerful application of fasting. Proof of this occurred in 1948 when Gandhi’s hunger strike caused millions of Hindus and Muslims in India to cease their fighting.

As a practical guide, Randi Fredricks, Ph.D. provides detailed information on the different types of fasting, where people fast, the physiological process of fasting, and the contraindications and criticisms of fasting. Using existing literature and original research, Dr. Fredricks focuses on the transformative characteristics of fasting in the contexts of psychology, medicine, and spirituality. The relationship between fasting and transpersonal psychology is examined, with a focus on peak experiences, self-realization, and other exceptional human experiences. Dr. Fredricks demonstrates how fasting can be profoundly therapeutic, create global paradigm shifts, and provide personal mystical phenomena.

Kindle Spotlight: A Collection of Thoughts & Too Much Time, by Danny Blaszczyk

"A Collection of Thoughts and Too Much Time" is simply that: a collection of thoughts and too much time!

I would like to be clever, but I am not. I would like to be talented, but I am not. I would like to be wealthy, but it will never happen. I just simply exist in much the same way as everyone else and I see and experience what others do. Yet life is simply a series of snapshots, with each ‘snap’ a particular event. I have tried to capture some of these events, not using a camera or mobile phone, but rather, to express my feelings and thoughts about them. Clearly, I have also had far too much time on my hands!

I dedicate this collection to my family, because they are long suffering. I particularly dedicate this work to my grandchildren, as some of this is about them and some of this is a reaction to the world I see them growing up in.

I sincerely hope you enjoy reading this work and that, in some manner, it sparks thought and debate. Thank you.

Featured Book: ENIGMA: The Only Child Syndrome

"ENIGMA: The Only Child Syndrome"
By: Talva

More often than not, when we find out that someone is an only child we quickly surmise that the person has been spoiled-rotten by his or her parent (s); thereby, having a reputation of being selfish and bratty. G. Stanley Hall was one of the first experts to give an only child a bad reputation when he referred to their situation as "a disease in itself." Being spoiled can be interpreted in varying ways. One might say that it simply means that they are well taken care of. Yet others may argue that its meaning is derived from a parent(s) over-showering their child with monetary riches; all the while, failing to instill other core values that will enrich their child’s personality and character.

Being a parent is undoubtedly one of the toughest tasks on earth. Nevertheless, a parent’s flagrant-foul on the parenting field can be extremely damaging and detrimental to their child’s emotional well-being. Good children can make bad parents, just as bad parents can make good children.

For Crystal, things just got real!
